Quantum Research Sciences Secures First DAF Quantum Computing Phase III Contract with Support from APEX

Quantum Research Sciences (QRS), a leading developer of quantum software solutions, has been awarded the Department of the Air Force (DAF) first-ever Quantum Computing Phase III contract. The award marks a significant milestone in the field of quantum computing, advancing next-gen defense technologies. This historic contract will accelerate the development and operationalization of quantum software aimed at improving military capabilities, including operational optimization and real-time data-driven decision-making for defense systems.

QRS, which was founded by CEO Ethan Krimins, has become a national leader in quantum science solutions. With a highly talented team of physicists, mathematicians, and computer scientists, the company has been at the forefront of quantum software development, producing the nation's first operational quantum software and three unique quantum applications, all with government sole source certification and exclusive federal protection.

The journey was supported by the Academic Partnership Engagement Experiment (APEX), a Partnership Intermediary Agreement (PIA) with the Department of the Air Force designed to bridge the gap between the Air Force and Space Force innovators. Through its Process Navigation services, APEX provided Quantum Research Sciences (QRS) with tailored mentorship, consultation, and strategic guidance, helping the company successfully navigate the complex defense contracting process and develop a clear roadmap toward success.

"The APEX team has been an invaluable partner throughout this process," said Ethan Krimins, CEO of Quantum Research Sciences. "Their consistent support and expertise helped us avoid common pitfalls in the DoD submission process. APEX guided us in making smart, strategic decisions that have led to this monumental win."

APEX's services went beyond basic mentorship, offering deep expertise in the nuances of defense contracts and the SBIR/STTR submission process. The organization's tailored support helped QRS navigate the complexities of securing government contracts while keeping expectations grounded and realistic.

"Working with Quantum Research Sciences has been a privilege for APEX," said Erin Holden, APEX Program Manager. "This Phase III award is a testament to the transformative power of quantum science and the role our team plays in supporting innovators like QRS. We’re thrilled to see their groundbreaking work move forward and contribute to the future of defense technology."

With the Phase III award in hand, QRS is poised to push the boundaries of quantum computing. The company is focusing on developing quantum-enabled solutions that offer unique and valuable tools for national defense, with plans to submit additional government contracts and continue advancing cutting-edge technologies.

"We’re not just commercializing our technology; we’re pushing the frontiers of science," said Krimins. "Our team is focused on making something valuable and unique, and this DAF award will help us continue on that adventure of discovery."
