The Academic Partnership Engagement Experiment (APEX) national engagement services involve advising and networking with universities and small businesses nationwide on Department of the Air Force technology transition opportunities. The goal is to increase public involvement in defense research and enhance their understanding of the value and importance of defense science, technology and exploration.
APEX national engagement services include:
- National engagement with a regional concentration - APEX regional liaisons conduct site visits throughout the Nation and build a network of academic, industry and tech-based support assets. APEX liaisons provide information on Department of the Air Force programs, ecosystem events and inform about the APEX U.S. Air Force Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) process navigation services available for free to all innovators in academia, industry and government. APEX regional liaisons are located throughout the Southwest and Appalachian regions.
- Events & webinars - APEX attends Department of the Air Force Industry Days, AFWERX events, conferences and other relevant national events that promote technology transfer and commercialization. APEX also hosts webinars, both foundational and regional. APEX foundational webinars are in-depth and cover U.S. Air Force-specific details for each solicitation round.
