A high-bandwidth, low-size/weight/power, radiation-tolerant space mesh router for deployment on low- and medium-earth-orbit satellites. The proposed solution implements a novel hardware-software architecture that provides extreme reliability, maximizes performance, and minimizes costs. Capabilities include high-bandwidth (100G) mesh routing, hardware reconfigurability, software-defined radio, on-board data processing and storage management, and hardware-based security. The platform's flexibility and compute capacity allow for complex, yet seamless network integrations despite the demands to interface with highly disparate communication front ends and protocols.
