On June 19, 2020, the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR) and its partnership intermediary the Basic Research Innovation and Collaboration Center (BRICC) hosted a live webinar that drew in around 1,000 registrants with over 500 of those registrants attending via Zoom. These registrants came from ten countries, over 160 universities and more than 60 different companies and greater than 84% of those who registered were new to the AFOSR . Innovation requires a team. Using a football analogy, the quarterback cannot win the game alone. Even setting aside the obvious need for a defense to keep the other team from scoring, the quarterback must be protected by the offensive linemen, and he must have the help of receivers and running backs to move the ball to the goal line. $2.1 million has been secured for a partnership between local organizations.
The partnership is between BRITE Energy Innovators in Warren, the Youngstown Business Incubator ( YBI ), and Wright State Applied Research Cooperation in Dayton.
The contract between the organization supports Academic Partnership Engagement Experiment ( APEX ), a five-year partnership program of the United States Air Force.
